TIGERS DEFEND NPL TITLE AT LAKESIDE CROSS COUNTRY MEET
The Natoma Cross Country team traveled to a windy Lakeside course to compete in their invitational on Thursday, October 15. There were 23 schools competing. Individuals competed against all schools as well as breaking scores apart for the Northern Plains League competition. In the varsity boys competition there were 98 runners. Results for the Tigers were as follows: Dean Masters (18:20, 3rd place); Taitem Zeigler (19:02, 15th); Grady Dickerson (20:05, 35th); Joey Raat (20:31, 44th); James Maupin (21:08, 53rd); and Dylan Pruter (21:33, 59th). Several of our team members ran personal best times. Natoma finished 5th overall (129 points) as a team amongst the 12 teams that were scored.
When the NPL schools were scored, the Tigers claimed the championship for the third year in a row with 22 points. Masters was the champion with his finish. Zeigler was 4th; Dickerson 10th; Raat 13th; Maupin 15th; and Pruter 18th. There were 36 runners from the NPL.
On Saturday, October 24 the team will travel to Grainfield to defend their Regional title. The top three teams as well as some individuals will qualify for State competition to be held at Wamego on Saturday, October 31.
