Get To Know Mr. Pustejovsky

  1.  What subjects/classes do you teach?  And how many years have you taught?

I teach 7th through 12th grade science classes. This will be my first year officially teaching as a teacher but I have done 2 years of emergency substitute teaching.

  1. Where did you go to college?

I went to Benedictine College where I got my B.S. degrees in physics and astronomy.

  1. What inspired you to teach?

I had many great science teachers when I was growing up and after graduating from college I got a job as a para-educator at a local high school. While working there I found that I really liked teaching people new things and decided to pursue a career in teaching.

  1. What made you choose Natoma?

I prefer living in a smaller community and I really liked the people that I met at my job interview and felt that I could really fit in.

  1. What is your hometown?

My home town is Geneseo, Illinois.

  1. Was teaching always your passion?

Not always, it was something that developed a liking to later in life. My dream job had been to work at an observatory.

  1. What was your first impression of Natoma?

My first impressions were that it was a very small community with friendly people.

  1. What was your favorite subject in school?

I would have to say my science classes especially physics. I also really liked my math classes and history.

  1. What is your ideal age group to teach?

I generally like working with older age groups simply because I really like to delve deep into the subject matter.

  1.  Have you worked at other schools in the past?

I used to work at Atchison High school.

  1.  What was your initial reaction to such small class sizes?

I tend to prefer smaller class sizes as I find that it is easier to provide the individually help that a student need’s when there are fewer students.

  1. What is your favorite sport or extracurricular activity?

Tennis and soccer are sports that I enjoy playing. I also like to read and play miniature war games and board games. I have also spent a lot of time creating an insect collection and observing planets and stars through a telescope.

  1. What type of music do you like?

I mainly like to listen to classical music as well as traditional folk music from different cultures.
